چکیده
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) of foodborne pathogens is public health concern, especially in developing countries such as Zambia. This study was undertaken to determine the antimicrobial profiles Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Salmonella isolated from retail broiler chicken carcasses purchased open markets supermarkets A total 189 E. five isolates were isolated. Identification confirmation done using Analytical Profile Index (API 20E) (Biomerieux®) 16S rRNA sequencing. susceptibility tests (AST) performed Kirby Bauer disk diffusion technique a panel 9 antibiotics. WHONET 2018 software used analyze AST results. The mostly resistant tetracycline (79.4%), ampicillin (51.9%), trimethoprim/sulfamethoxazole (49.7%). Two at least one antibiotic. has demonstrated presence AMR on supermarkets, which concern.

INTRODUCTION Salmonella is one of the major foodborne pathogens responsible for outbreaks of foodborne illness in humans worldwide. METHODOLOGY A total of 560 samples of chicken meat and giblets were collected from retail markets for Salmonella identification, serotyping, and antimicrobial resistance testing. RESULTS Salmonella was detected in 19.8% of samples. Among the five serotypes iden...

Salmonella is frequently reported as a cause of food-borne illness. The emergence of antimicrobial resistant Salmonella associated with meat products has heightened concerns regarding antimicrobial use in food animal production. Eighty Salmonella isolates recovered from fresh whole chicken carcasses purchased at retail outlets were examined for susceptibility to 18 antimicrobials. Fifteen serot...
